Oh yeah talked to a body shop about that a few months ago.
I think they run about $100-$150 each x4. AFAIk their is no aftermarket part. But various dealers do offer better pricing. Their is one in CA that does a lot of business online, I know Phil uses them. They may cost a few bucks but the nice new black ones sure look nice. ![]()

You know I think the sun turns the trim purple. A good used car buying tip to determine if the car has been parked outside is looking at the color of the trim. Before high tech paints, the paint itself was a good indicator; now a guy can clay/polish/wax a car with no signs of long term sun exposure.

Hatterasguy,
Are you saying that you have seen black trim on a w140 ? A factory item? I have painted mine black but it needs to be re-done. I would like to have anodised ones instead. Kevin |

I assume you are talking about the vertical trim on the doors? One part is at the rear of the front door and the other is at the front of the rear.
The trim is supposed to be black, it was black new. Actualy shiney deep gloss black. Age and sun turns it purple and gives it that dull finish. The only real fix is replacement. The local high end import body shop likes to replace them when painting W140's, because its an added detail that makes the car look much better.

No I was talking about the window surrounds.
I have painted mine black. I have seen black surrounds on a newer E class from the factory. Never seen it on a W 140. Was thinking about getting new surronds and annodiseing them to match the vertical pillers. Kevin |
