Phillips makes a bulb called "Silver Vision" that looks silver like the reflector when off, but flashes orange when activated. http://www.fosmo.com/ has a pic and ordering info under "Philips, Silver Vision indicator".

Or you can jast lightly spray paint or hand paint with a cotton ball an orange boulb with silver paint.
I used the cotton ball and some hobby paint. Took me 15 minutes to do it.

DMITRY,

Does painting the bulb affect it's light output? And does an amber bulb painted silver still shine amber? Does painting the bulb cause it to crack? Thanks, I may do this since those silvervisions are over $25.00 and they don't fit a 1992 300E anyway.

I think that the "silversstone" bulbs are made this way.
Its an amber bulb coated or tinted with a thin coat of silver. What I did is I got some paint on a cotton ball and dubed (if thats the correctt word !) the bolb. Sinse the surface of the bulb is very smooth, the paint did not cover it compleatly but gathered in to small "bals". If you hold the bulb painted this way against a dark surface, it will apear silver, but if you hold it against the light it should be amber and transparent. I checked if it is shining dimmer after painting the first bulb by comparing to the unpainted onee. No difference. Had it for 2.5 month now, nothing happened, no cracks, still works.

to crack or not to crack

What does it matter whether the paint will crack or not; the orange painted bulbs crack as well!

US$25 for a set of silver vision bulbs? I only have to pay approx US$15 for it and still think that it is too expensive.

Benzo300,
Why is the bulb not available for the W126? As far as I know the bulb will fit any white lens indicator with orange bulb (standard fitting)...

greetingz,

Paint it lightly, jast a litle paint !!! If you cover it uniformly it will be dimmer. Don't wory for the imperfections, the reflector on the lense will hide everything.

I tried some silver Testors model paint. It took 3 thin coats to get uniform coverage. They do look great though and light output is visually the same. This was a great idea DMITRY. Thanks for the tip.
