AC Issues W202 '94 C280

As mentioned in another post I have fixed a couple of problems with my AC system with help from the forum. Replaced the cabin air filter and the duovalve so that the air flow is now strong and heat is no longer coming out the side vents. Now the problem is the air flow is still not cold enough. The system uses R-134a and so I thought maybe the charge was just a little low. But when I checked the pressure on the low side port it appears to be too high. The gauge reading was around 65 psi. Also the compressor does not stay on, it cycles on and off every few seconds. Before I take the car to the shop, my question now is what is the likely problem?
