(M119) '92 400E Broken Mystery Black Tube

Hi all,

Working on a friend's 1992 400e today for steering and coolant issues. Came across this broken plastic black tube when I took out the distributor cap and steering pump head. It was paired up with a smaller white plastic tube around a ribbed protective sleeve, which pretty much crumbles up as soon as you handle it.

If somone can ID this tube, I'd greatly appreciate it! TIA.

Part of evaporative purge system..should wind up at the purge valve on the left inner apron...valve has the letters "MOT" & is rubber mounted.

Based on your picture you may also want to investigate the last time the distributor rotors and caps were replaced. Mark

Yes, I noticed that the more I tear down this car, the more items I find that need replacing...

Thanks for the input!
