Passage Side Vacuum Door Lock

Need Help! 1993 190E 2.6

The door lock knob will not pop up when the passage side is opened with the key. What steps should I take to correct this vacuum system problem?

Thanks,

Don Hicks

Hi Don,
I had the same problem on my '82 380SL. The vacuum unit has two diaphragms mechanically connected by a "C" shaped aluminum fitting, and on my unit one end of the "C" was loose on it's diaphragm. The screw had fallen out. I just replaced it after coating it with some gasket cement so it wouldn't loosen again. Perhaps your problem is similar.
Regards,
