What is the difference between a 300TD and 300D Turbo?
I have a four door sedan 85 300D Turbo. Does that make it a 300TD (T stands for Turbo) or is the 300TD an entirely different breed of 85 300 model? I checked the configuration site on Parts Shop, the engine numbers, body styles for 300TD and 300D Turbo match.

Reason is , in rebuilding my engine, parts inquiries always have this question.
I'm confused?

The 300D is a sedan, the 300TD is a station wagon, T being transport or touristik or something German like that. Engine parts should be the same for either model. FWIW, some folks distinguish a turbodiesel by adding a small t as in 300Dt or 300TDt.

Good luck,
Sixto

If it's a TD, its a wagon and the T stands for touring. The difference is the body and suspension, but the engines should be the same.

Actually the engines have a slight difference. The TD (station wagen) has a hydraulic rear leveling system that has its pump driven by the timing chain/gear. This makes the heads different. You could probably cover the hole on a TD and use it on a D but not the other way around.
