97 E300D - ODBII code P1362

My wife's 1997 E300 has developed a preglow problem. It starts very hard (as if on only a few glow plugs) and the glow light in the cluster stays on for a few seconds after the car is running. Also, it gives me a "check engine electronics" message.

I plugged in my code reader and it was code p1362 (engine electonics malfunction).

My question is this - has anyone else gotten this code? I know it is either the glow plugs or the preglow relay but is it both? Before I throw money and time at it, it would be nice to know if it is the easy to replace relay.

Go figure it would happen now, I just had the darn intake off a week before to replace the fuel lines!

Thanks in advance!

Klaus
