has anyone who is familiar with mercecdes EPC ever heard of SA code 473? the code says it is for use in countries with low quality fuel. i just had the heads off of my 500SEL vin number WDB1260371A203332, it appears to have this engine. i would have pulled the engine and replaced the pistons had i thought of this further.
i did notice the pistons were dished rather than flat or with a dome top. so moral of the story don't assume that since it is a euro model that it has the high output engine. a little reasearch told me this car was delivered in israel, i guess in the mid 80s 's they had poor quality gas.

well i decided to leave well enough alone, car runs perfect, just rebuilt the heads, and as a plus with the lower compression i can use low octane unleaded, still very fast, just was thinking what it could do with higher compression
