300E 5 speed Factory Manual

I have a 1986 300E 5 Speeder that needs an overhaul. (717.430) The syncro's are trashed primarily from the PO's shifting and needs help. I was hoping that someone has the rare factory manual to help things along or any advice. BTW Is this a good time to ask if there is an Auto rebuild manual around for my 87 190D 2.5 NA???(722.4xx) Any help would be great! Thanks! Clip... great part outlets are alway good too!

have you tried thicker oil?

the synchros work on the viscosity of the oil and if they are not too far gone going up a grade will sometimes work like a charm.

If it’s popping out of any gears, then its time for are rebuild, grinding or hard down shifting you might get lucky and fix it by changing the fluid. the 717.460transmisions are used in the SLK230.

China:

go to www.4x4abc.com

Send an e-mail to the webmaster, Harald Pietschmann.
Tell him you need the shop manual for the 717.430, for the 86 300E.
Tell him Brian V sent you!
I just got a copy from him. It's the factory service manual; approx 110+ pages with all the detail you'll need. All the measurements, specs, step-by-step tear down and rebuild, etc. Sweeeet.
It took me quite a while to track him down. Cost was approx $40 or $45 shipped IIRC.
Good luck!

Brian
