W123 without side trim

I took all the side trim off my W123. One pice was missing and another was messed up. I needed them all off so I could prep the car for paint. Then I got to wondering what it would look like if I filled in all the holes and didn't have any side trim on it at all. Has anyone ever seen this?

the trim is more than decoration, it protects the sides from other careless doors, i would say leave it just for that factor alone.
