2001 E320 Ac problems in sunny Phoenix!

The passenger side center and side vent blows cold air but driver side feels like a fan without the ac...Also at a standstil and when taking off, my fan blower goes to a very low setting - although the display shows max. Then as I gradually pick up speed, it returns to normal. I ran the self diagnostics and got the following reading:
sens.1=89
sens.2=105
sens.3=78
sens.4=67
sens.5=80
sens.6=155
sens.7=13
sens.8=130
Error codes = none, just FF
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Not really hissing...The part with the fan decelerating and then picking it up again is bothering me though...How many lbs of freon should go in?

Your display shows the fan in automatic mode? I wish I could get mine to do that. It's supposed to be possible, but perhaps my pushbutton control (N22) is a very early version. I don't know why your cabin fan is misbehaving, but perhaps I can comment on the refridgerant.

With that kind of outside temperature (105), you should see more than 13 on #7. It's low.

But how much to add is a tough call. There's no way to answer that. You just need to fill it until it is full enough.

You really don't want too much in there, as the pressure will skyrocket. I added a bit too much to mine because the ambient temperature was lowering as I was adding refridgerant, and got it too full. The pressure got to 24 when starting the car in 91F ambient, which is too high. I removed a bit by chilling the nearly-empty can that I had just used to fill (with the engine stopped), which worked well, if slowly, but didn't release or waste the stuff.

If you're going to add some refridgerant, either hook a set of gauges up, or put a thermometer in the left-side center vent and watch the high-side on N22. If the temperature goes up after you have added refridgerant, it means that the low-side is getting higher, which is very bad. That shouldn't happen unless you're way too full.

Be sure to add the refridgerant very slowly so you don't increase the low-side in the process.

Have you given any thought to the idea of having a professional service your A/C properly?
