My wife has a 2000, E320. She recently left the S/R open and a heavy rain drenched the interior. Since that, the SRS light comes on when driving. Is this sensor somewhere where I can service it? Was the rain the cause of the problem?
Dan PS I also see the display for the HVAC control has lost some digital displays!! |

The sensor is under the shifter lever, so it's likely it got drenched. Sorry to hear it.
I can't tell you the proper procedure for this (be sure to find out and follow it exactly; don't set off the system), but you should deactivate the system and either dry it out, or replace the sensor. I think I'd just replace the sensor, as I wouldn't want to set off the charges when hooking it back up. |

Just for laughs, why don't you check the system for fault codes? Maybe one, or both of the seat belt buckle switches, or possibly the child seat recognition sensor, is the problem. If the control module turns out to be the problem, it's not a "plug and play" job. The replacement unit will need to be programmed. Let a dealer
