this is my third day looking at threads!!I need help!!

the car - 1990 300E the problem - nothing on my climate control panel works!
there is only a slight defrost running continuously, that is really hot! nothing from center vents. no A/c and cannot control the speed = like I said , completely dead!
I also noticed that my auxillary fans are not working either.
where do I start? what does anyone know about this?
I have been reading for three days and still don't know where to begin, please help!!!!
thanks Ron

did you check the big 30A (I think it is 30A) fuse in front of the fusebox? Has small plastic cover over it.

thanks

yes I have and it is fine. I also have looked at the website noted above. the site is awesome but I could not find any troubleshooting, that is why I am trying to see if anyone has had this happen? like I said... the back up lights are working so I believe that it is not a fuse due to the fact that I think I read that the aux. fans and the back up lights are on the same circuit, am I right about that? I also read that if the engine over heats than the blower relay disengages? is there a way to reset this? and if this is what happened would this be stopping the aux fans and the climate control? please send some informative feedback thanks!

Isn't that fuse just for the fan?

I think fz500sel means the blower motor fuse. On the W124's, it's in a small plastic box just outside of the main fuse box. If you have heated seats, the fuse for those is in the same place.

The cover just lifts off, I believe.

I know the fuse that you are talking about- checked it and it is fine. all the fuses in the fuse box are fine as well. could it be a relay? do relay go bad eventually? or perhaps other suggestions?
thanks

relay

I have a 81 380sl and the fan didn't work because the 100c switch and the relay. Mine had it just for the aux fan.

As far as the climate control, mine had the exact same thing and it was vacuum switch 19 or 39 behind the glove box.

What does this all mean??? what is the 100 c switch? and the relay? are these items easily changed? are there any links out there that can help? I found the vacuum thing behind the glove box, do I have to replace the whole thing? or is there a way to fix it?

and if you have had these problems, tell me what you did in order to fix them! I need some guidance ! thanks

Sounds like blower regulator or Klima or Aux fan or all?. Is the A/C compressor kicking on?

Auxiliary Fans on a 124 300D (602)

Blower regulator or fan - help - W124

For the Aux fan(s)
Try unplugging the fan and applying 12v to it directly. If it works, start working you way back. I found the temp switch tabs were a little corroded. Electronics cleaner, emory cloth and di-electric grease works wonders.

BTW, I first tried using a test light and small guage jumper wires from the battery to test the fan directly and it didn't work. Took the car to indy he checked the ice cube relays(under cover behind fuse panel) and shorted the wires off the switch(in line to a/c condenser), fan didn't work, relays checked out OK. He concluded the fans were shot. Got new fans from a junkie, tested them with a 12v battery charger. Just for grins, Before I got into to dropping the bumper, I tested the fans on the car with the battery charger...They worked
Lesson here... test the fans directly with heavy wire jumpers or with a battery charger.
PS I told my indy and he didn't believe me, Lesson here... getting a new indy

invisible corrosion

I don't remember which fuse controls each system but I have experienced the same thing and corrected the issue by using emery cloth on each end of the fuses... even though the fuses appeared to be perfectly sound.
If it works It is sure worth a try.
