C43 transmission issues???
So my c43 tranny is acting weird. If I floor it when its cold it can actually get confused and get hung up... missshift or not shift at all until I get off the gas. At the very best is shifts horribly (very jerky) I can wait until its warm and the symptoms go away or I if I dont floor it, it shifts pretty smooth.. Im guessing its only a matter of time until it is time to sink the cash into replacing the tranny.
The auto is so poor imo. The peddle travel is horrible. It is either all on the gas or not, which is annoying to me as I don't like to be beat by mini vans stop light to stop light but I don't want my car squealing the tires as I pull away! Lol JK. point is that the car does not have linear acceleration. There is no smooth predictable acceleration based on how far the peddle is pushed. There are 3 distinct position on the peddle. "Slow", passing gear, and hold onto your ass. Seriously, the peddle travels about 2/3 of the way down and then drops into passing gear and then when you push it to the floor to activate that switch it really takes off. I wonder how much of this is due to failing tranny and how much of it is inherent in the car?? I have been told that the MAF can cause this issue?? Thoughts. There are no engine codes |

C43 is either 98/99 or 2000. If it's a 98, I'd be leery as many 98 722.6's live a short life.
The best thing to do is get the car hooked to an SDS and check trans adaptation values and trans codes. That will tell you right off how well the trans is working. Then, if it's fine, read fuel trim adaptation values to see if you've got a bad Air Mass Meter (AMM) and if the AMM is going south, it might not be to the point where it would set the CEL, but you can see the decline in the values and feel the performance difference. If fuel trim adaptation is fine, then look for misfires and other potential performance killers. And it's "pedal."

98 with 90k. Thanks for the feedback. I can read fuel trim adaption values with my code reader. What should I look for?
Even still, I doubt the values could be so far off as to cause the car to missshift. It will actually kick back and forth 2nd 3rd 2nd 3rd until I let off of the gas. I'll hook it up to a transmission code reader and see what we get. and I said the car was acting weird. I pedal it to work each day. I plan to peddle the car to someone else but only if there willing to drive to wear the car is so they can here the growl of the v8. Maybe I'll post it on a web sight. |
