Rear window mounted stoplight 126

I have a third stoplight and base that I was told came out of a 126 that I want to put in my 84 126. Can someone tell me if it mounts on top of the rear shelf fibre board, or do I cut the board away and drill through the steel shelf below? The curvature of the base does not fit the curvature of the fibre board and I am concerned that it may not be for a 126. Also, when mounted, does the lower edge of the light housing come right to the bottom of the rear window? Thanks in advance for any info.

It mounts on top of the fiberboard with the rear of the base against the rear lip of the fiberboard. MB slots the 4 mounting holes fore and aft to permit proper alignment. If you separate the light assembly from the base the inside of the base will indicate which chassis it belongs to (eg. 126 or 124). See the attached pics for mounting info. Mark

Thanks Mark. Good information. The base says it is for a 124. Do you know whether or not it will fit my 126?

I wouldn't think it would. You will need to get a 126 version. Mark
