Thumbs up W108, how to tell if Euro?

Is there a way to tell if a certain W108 is a Euro model?

Thanks

Headlights--the US spec used stacked sealed-beams, the Euro has a solid vertical lens over the headlight and directional/parking light, with no other light between grille and headlight assembly.
Instruments--metric units, not English.
Upholstery--Euros offered cloth; AFAIK US had only leather or tex.
Ultimately, serial number and contacting the MB Classic Center in the US--not hard; they'll respond online and can give you the full build card information on your car.

Contacting MB is the best way...previously posted...

BUT all US models should have a VIN plate on the left "B-pillar" as well.

and if it was legally federalized, there should be a plate in the b-pillar put there by the person that did the import work. my 280TE has a nice engraved plate in the drivers door that states the VIN, etc. the earlier the car, the harder it is to tell, though.

Not sure there was a Federalization process that needed to be documented in the years the 108 was made (ending in '71-72), but the other signs should be useful.

Also most people never went through the trouble and expense to convert the license plate lights. US versions came with chrome lightholders on either side of the rear plate. European versions had the license lights mounted in the bumper shining up on the plate. I;m assuming that because the plates for all 50 states including Texas are the same size, they were able to do this whereas the euro model had to accomodate plates around the world.
