Minor W124 sunroof problem, help please.
Hi,
I have a 1991 W124 300TE. The sunroof slides smoothly and cleanly, but there are two problems. When I use the switch to raise just the rear of the sunroof the gray interior panel hangs down on the passenger side in back. Any ideas on how that is held up to the sunroof assembly? When I slide the roof back (regular open position) a silver rod starts protruding right down the centerline from the back of the sunroof opening. It is getting dirt on the headliner/pad. It looks like it broke through a black plastic cap. Any ideas on what this rod is supposed to do? Anybody have a exploded view of the sunroof mechanism? Thanks much in advance. Gebhard |

No picture but a good memory
The "silver rod" sounds like the steel tube which serves as a cable guide. It should be fixed in position, so it sounds like it has come unattached.
The upholstery cover is just held on by 4 push clips. I think you need the sunroof half-open to pull the cover off. Tom |

Very silly question -
Do the sedans feature the same arrangement? |
