What is involved changing condenser W210

I had a leak in my condenser on a W210 which wasn't spotted when I had the AC recharged last week
I dropped off the car with a new condenser drier and fan for a local shop to install it
WHen I went to pick it up The mechanic told me how tough a job it was and charged me $250 for the labor and a charge
Looking at WIS this seems excessive and I'd like to ask whet it should take on a 98 E320 W210 chasis so I can talk to teh shop owner armed with some facts
Thanks
BOb

Sheesh!

A lousy $250 and you are going to try and negotiate the last drop of profit out the shop. You really have to be kidding. You are driving a fairly new Benz and you are acting like you are driving a Corolla.

First of all they were nice enough to put on parts that you bought. Most good shops won't do that. So they are out a critical markup on the parts. You are out the warranty, I presume. If they spent 3 hours and added a little for the lost markup, they are about right.

You would have been smarter to tip them $50 bucks to stay on their good side.

If I was them and I had your money, I would tell you to not come back.

Sorry, but as someone who owns his own business, it just irritates me.

I should have mention that the owner was out today and this was done by his assistant.who in the oast had charged me 50 to 100% of what the owned did.
When I picked up the car the AC wasn't working right and when I got it home I realized that the Aux fan was turnig backwards and blowing towards the front of the vehicle. so he obviously didn't test it much

My issue is not with the shop that I recommend to everyone I know but with the helper who I think I should discuss with the owner

obtw the Aux fan came from Mercedes shop and came with only loose pins that needed to be inserted into the old connector. the color code on the new one i sreversed from teh original and if you wired it as teh original was it will turn the wrong way
I fixed this and its running fine

That sounds odd. The fan I just got from Phil (here) came with the plug attached. That plug needed to be clipped into the fan frame, but it was fully wired. And in the correct direction. This was the OEM fan motor.
