getrag gearbox making sounds

i have a 190e 1985 16v 5 spd manual euro and its been having weird sounds lately
so as i started my car and listened to the engine in idle I noticed that there was a sort of weird knocking sound
kinda like CLACK and CLONG randomly

i listened to the engine with one of those doctor earpieces but made for cars
the engine sounded smooth
i looked under the car and noticed that the sound was more noticeable here
in the end i traced it to my gearbox...
i put the hearing device on the gearbox and listened and i could tell that the knocking sounds were coming from there

i just changed to Royal Purple ATF about 3 weeks ago so I am assuming oil is not the problem...

if i am assuming something has been worn or broken.. wat part could it possibly be if the sound is occuring when the car is in idle ?
