New mystery noise coming from under dash...

While taking a test drive after replacing the timing cover gasket I began to hear a cricket type noise emitting from under the passenger side of the dashboard. The noise only seems to be intermittent and directly affected by the fan speed of the HVAC system. I've noticed that the A/C doesn't seem to blow very hard at all in this car, but I initially thought it may simply be bad duct design. Are fan speed control and noisey blower motors common among W210's?

Ted

If it's really like a cricket, ie "crick-crick-crick-crick" then I'd guess the fan, yes.
If it's a steady criiiiiiiiiiiiick, then maybe the door over the dust filter isn't installed correctly.

ps would be worth taking out the blower to add a few drops of 3 in 1 oil, on older 210's you may be forced to buy a LOT more than you need to replace the blower
