Cool Help with a starter removal on a 88, 420sel

Heya everyone the starter went bad on my benz. I purchased a replacement. I am a pretty good mechanic. But I need advice, tips, guide on what steps i need to do to replace this starter. Do I need to remove the exhaust system ? do I need to replace the drag bar ?? Do the bolts thread into the tranny housing ? any advice steps or tips would be appreciated !!
THanks

It's a fairly straight forward job with long extensions working from the back of the tranny. THe bolts are 10mm allens. Don't forget to disconnect the battery. You shouldn't need to drop the exhaust. By the way if you are putting in a cheapie from Napa or Kragan or someplace like that, plan on probably doing it again soon. A Bosch rebuilt from Fast Lane is The way I'd go if I were a DIY. I value my time. Good luck.
