300TE has bouncy ride

Hello all--
Thanks so much for a great forum.

I have a wonderful 1989 300TE that has a rather bouncy ride--it's almost like riding in a horse drawn buggy. The car doesn't seem to have any damping after going over bumps. What's odd is that it seems to be a problem with the seats rather than the car's suspension itself, because it's only noticeable when sitting in the front. Surely this isn't normal. Any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance.

accumulators if in back, shocks if in front. if these parts are bad they make the car bouncy and you notice it in front because the seats have springs in them unlike most cars which have a big lump of upholstered foam.
