What is the BEST GASOLNE to use in your MB?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I want to just inform you of THE BEST gasoline to use in your automobile, regardless if it is premium or diesel. My uncle worked for a reaserch firm that graded all different types of gasoline, THE CONCLUSION:

Without a doubt AMOCO gas is top of the line gasoline, both in regular gas and diesel. I just wanted to let everyone know, so that there isnt a continuing discussion on gas or fuel. You can thank me again and again, but my uncle has done EVERY test without bias as to quality in every catagory. your welcome

I do not have anything to do with Amoco, I just want the BEST for every MB owner, because it's the RIGHT thing to do, I want to share "best practices" , so that we can ALL get the most out of our beautiful machines thanks

Does your uncle work for Southwest Research Institute? They are the most respected independent testing laboratory for engine, fuel, lubricant, and automotive component manufacturers in the United States.

FYI, I couldn't buy "Amoco" if I wanted to. You need to understand that motor fuel brands are a regional thing...

We have no "Sohio", "Fina", "Gulf", "Conoco", "Sunoco", "Amoco", "Getty", "Citgo", "Mobil", "Phillips 66", "Sinclair", "Tenneco", or "Husky", etc. here where I live. We do have ARCO, BP, Shell, Texaco, Ultramar, Chevron, Union 76, and numerous independent stations out here. We used to have "Exxon" but it has now become "Valero".

It seems that petroleum is a REGIONAL thing. (Also lets you know how much traveling I have done.) LOL. I will just add that it is probably in your best interest to at least use 92+ octane, if you have fuel injection. But the link above is great too.

We used to get reports from the API when I was at the dealer and Shell and Sunoco consistently ranked at the top of the charts. So I have only used Shell 93 or Sunoco Ultra 94 in my gasoline MBs. As far as diesel goes, I prefer Amoco's Premium diesel or BP's Diesel Supreme.

I use premium (or whatever octane specified in my owner's manual) from whatever Nationally recognized gas station is nearby when I need gas. Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Texaco, etc. all will do for me. I've never noticed any difference in performance in any of my cars among any of those gas stations.
I think using different gasoline every now and then is better, actually, because I think they all use slightly different detergents, which are each slightly better at cleaning differnt types of deposits. Just a feeling, I have no proof of that.
The reality is this is not an issue that I give any thought to. I just use gas from any of the many reputable companies.

I have found that 76 premium seems to work best on my car, it really adds alot of power.
It is more expensive than other fuels but worth it in my opinion

I do not use gasoline that contains MTBE. It's an ecological thing. First, they told us it was better for the environment, then they found that it doesn't biodegrade, and has a tendency to collect in ground water. My choice eliminates Chevron, ARCO, Texaco, and Shell, so I use Union 76.

As for diesel, try to find out what the cetane rating of the diesel is that is available in your area, and use the highest cetane diesel you can buy. For Mercedes cars, the higher the better, as the diesel sold in this country isn't as high cetane as what is sold in Europe. The engines are designed with high compression ratios, and therefore, require high cetane fuel. That is why I always use Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst, or Redline 85+ in my car, because among it's other benefits, it also increases the cetane of the fuel by several points. Diesel fuel does not contain MTBE, so I choose to buy diesel from Chevron, or Union 76. That choice is mainly based upon experience with diesel fuel quality during past cross-country operations of commercial vehicles.
