Cool 1982 240d Clutch Slave Question ?

I looked on line for a clutch slave and notice there is a rod that comes with them..when i took my slave out I noticed the rod didn't come with it and the piston was all the way to the front on the slave.I took a long rod and pushed the piston back down , so im thinking the slave must work but don't know why i can't get the rod out of the bell housing..So before i take the trans out and inspect whats going on in there. i though maybe someone could tell me whats up with this and what i should do..
thanks
Glenn

1982 240d Clutch Slave Question ?

one day the petal went to the floor so i was told to back flush it ,well that didn't work so i took the slave out and noticed the rod stayed in the bell housing..I looked at the slave and the piston in the slave was out as far as it could go.when i pushed it back down all the fluid came out.I then tried to pull this rod out of the bell housing but wouldn't budge.. I would think if the pressure was released from the pressure plate it would push the slave piston back in..so now im wondering what to do before i pull the trans out to see what the problem is..
hope this helps with solving the problem
thanks'
Glenn
