Idiot Lights, how do they connect? - '80 450sl

I am not a mechanic and I know very little about electrical components, so this may be a very 'Idiotic' question (it's a pun, get it?).

Anyways, I am working on fixing some of the components of the instrument cluster on my '80 450sl, and in doing so I am replacing all of the light bulbs. I noticed the 4 lights at the bottom right of the cluster (when looking at the back), and when I looked at a diagram, they were referred to as idiot lights. however, I also noticed that there aren't any wires, etc leading into the lights, they are just in plastic casings held to the back of the panel with springs.

Are they supposed to be like this, or is something missing. If they are supposed to be like this, how does the electricity get to the bulbs? Through the springs?

Thanks!

idiot lights

if you remove one of the lights by pushing in and turning you will see two tabs on the side that connect with the circuit board hence the power.
