1995 E320

Hello folks' I have a 1995 E320 sedan with hot start problem . This is very weird . It takes a little longer then normal to stat in the morning ,if I drive for a while and stope for 10 minutes or more then it may or may not start . Last time it didnt statrt about 3 monthes ago and I towed it home and left it there foe 3 monthes ,battery got ruined ,I jumped started it and to my surprise it started just fine . It has been working for about a week now .I dont know what to make out of this ,some people tell me its the crankshaft sensor .My engine harness is diteriated and i see cracks around the wires . I guess i like to try the sensor first .Can someone give a link or phone # i can buy the crankshaft sensor . How hard is it to install it and if someone tell me the location of it ,is done from the bottom or top of the car? Also if there is a link on how to replace the wire harness on a 1995 E320 please.

thanks

Mike from Huntington Beach California

Well, you certainly need a wire harness...but I would also do a search on "OVP relay" before changing the CPS on that chassis.

Thanks for your reply . where would be a good place to buy an "ovp" relay ? i would rather buy it online and have it shipped in southern California . where is the OVP relay located ?

OVP relay

I too am having problems with my '95 E320 but a bit different then your issues.

I have followed Arthur's suggestion and replaced the OVP relay. I is behind the battery compartment usually behind a plastic shield.

You can order it here...click on the Buy Parts tab up top...select your model car...type in overload in the search box and click Go. Once you see the picture it shouldn't be hard to find behind the battery.

Sadly, replacement of the OVP was no help in my case. The wiring harness was replaced by PO and I've recently replaced the O2 sensor and the Fuel Pump Relay at the suggestion of some other threads on this forum. My next and last part replacement is the Engine Control Module that is due in this week.

My problem has progressed from a hard start after the first one of the morning to a no start two days ago. The code I was getting off the reader (also by the battery- search the forum for "led" posts by Arthur) led me to the Fuel Pump Relay which may be shorting out as a bit of jiggling got the car started.

Sorry to ramble but figured I'd give some advice for a change instead of always asking for it!

Good luck and message me if you have further challenges with the OVP! Mike
