Would a '94-95 E320 engine fit a '95 C280?

My gray market '95 S280 needs an engine and since a C280 engine should be a direct fit, wouldn't a E320 engine also work? Are they not from the same block? There is a wrecked '95 E320 with 72,000 miles I may be able to get cheap.

atikovi, the engine may fit fine, but confirm that all the underhood wiring is identical or you may have a nightmare getting the engine to run.
