Hello Gents you've been so helpful in your advice. Most of the problems are now solved. Now its time for good old maint. I want to change the gear oil, tranny fluid and tranny filter. Any recomendations on types and brand names of these fluids? Also what does the torque converter do in reference to the fluids? And last but not least any procedeural advise?

Do a search on each subject

and you will find all the answers you need.
Just take your time and make sure it is safe to crawl underneath before you get under there.

the torque converter

is a "fluid coupling" so to speak that has quite a bit of tranny fluid in it. It is like two fans facing each other. One of the fans is "driven" by the engine. As it comes up to speed the air flow from the driven fan makes the other fan rotate which then drives the tranny input shaft. In the automatic transmission the "air" in this case is the automatic transmission fluid so it actually becomes a "fluid coupling".
