380SL - What Does This Go To???

I have a 1981 Mercedes 380SL... and while putting in a new a/c compressor... I somehow unplugged a white wire.

Pictures are below, but it's a thick wire with three seperate wires inside. It comes from the middle of the left side fender and is about 30" long... but I have no idea where it goes!!

Anyone have an idea???? Thanks!!

That could be the wire from the inductive pickup for TDC sensing that comes from the front of the engine and goes to the diagnostic connector on the inner fender (driver's side).
It has nothing to do with the operation of the engine - dealer's equipment hooks to it.

Does your RPM gauge still work?
