more 300TE Weirdness - noise from rear when OFF

When troubleshooting my blower problems, I had the key out of the ignition and heard a noise like the fuel pump in the tank coming on for a few seconds and then off. It sounds like its near the rear passenger wheel.

Would this be normal? I've had this car for 2 years and never heard it before. ? possibly related to the lack of control voltage on my blower ? Advice from an expert is appreciated.

Thanks

The radio antenna motor is located there, probably just the mast running up and down as the switch the key on and off.

thanks I wish it were that simple, but this is with the key off and not in the ignition, happens every 15 minutes or so.

I think I would notice the antenna going up and down.

thanks, it is a similar sound and I don't recall hearing it with the tailgate closed. I'll tiptoe around the garage tomorrow and see what i hear ( or don"t )

How would I adjust this ? is there a FAQ?

Thanks

Betcha it's the vacuum pump for the central locking system. You have a leak somewhere in the system, causing the pump to run periodically to maintain a vacuum. Need to fix it, as the leak worsens the pump will run so much it will burn out.
