seat belt presenters

I know this question has a limited audience..

what triggers the seat belt presenter in a coupe?

is it weight on the seat.... turning the ignition key....

is there a relay that is needed.

mine seem to work off and on... can't figure it out..

i don't think there is anything wrong mechanically.

I believe the presenter is triggered by the door switch if someone opens the door it will trigger the belt to extend.

that doesn't really make sense... because the presenter doesn't work until you turn the ignition on...

and it seems like if the passenger side is unoccupied...the presenter won't come out...

I think he's saying IF the door is opened and when the car is turned on, then it presents. I think the day they break, if in the retracted position, is the happiest day a coupe owner can have.

The presenters work pefectly in both my W124s. They are activated by the door opening, the key does NOT have to be on, and it does NOT matter if any weight is on the seat. Then once the key is turned on, the presenter will operate.
