I just replaced the original (12V 12W) low beam light bulbs with the (12V 8W) in my 86' 300SE. However, when I turned the low beam or high beam light on, the "lamp out" light of the panel lighted up. Would the fuse be broken by the lower watt bulbs? Or if not, how can I make the "lamp out" signal off?
Please help, thanks!! |

To solve your problem with the light out indicator being on you need to replace the new bulb with a stock bulb or equivilent to the 12W 12V bulb you pulled out. The light malfunction system looks at a total wattage of the system and if it there are any deviations it throws the light on. So just replace the new bulb with a new 12W 12V bulb and you should be good to go.

Replacing with original bulb did the trick. (But only momentarily as somewhere an earth wire needed grounding.)
