'95 E320 wire harness question

I have searched the archives, but have not found the answer to this question. I have a 1995 E320 wagon that I purchased used in 1998. I have never had any wire harness problems, and I don't know if the harness might have been replaced previous to my ownership. When did the harness's start to fail and when did MB start selling the "improved" harness? Where is the tag located that shows the part number of the harness that is presently installed?? A picture will help since I am not that familiar with the under hood components of this car. Does anyone know the part number of the replacement harness for this vehicle? Once I figure out if I need to replace the harness, I will probably have additional questions, so any help that can be offered to me will be greatly appreciated. Most of my experiences with MB's have been with the diesels. This is the first gas MB that I have owned. Don't know if it matters, but the car presently has 90,000 miles on it. Thanks JUnk.....

Easy ways to check Main harness is to cut away black sheething at connector at thermostat water temp sender (pik) or remove spark plug cover. Another is the "B" harness (above oil filter) for oil pressure sender & starter (pik).

For new part number, ask MB dealer. Part number on cable at connector. Remove battery and plastic cover behind it.

Keep searching "m104 Engine Wiring Harness"

The part number is near the source plug which is behind the battery. Follow the big mass of wires in that area and you pretty much can't miss it. You may have to unplug it to get the part number. Then any dealer parts counter can tell you if original or a replacement. If it's a replacement you should be OK.
