Not sure why, sorry. I'd try tracing the wires themselves to check damage, but what's the likelyhood of both of them being damaged? I think they are seperate leads out of the failure monitor too but could be wrong. There is a fusebox on the side of the lamp switch, you pry the cover off on the side of the dash to get to it, maybe a seperate fuse just for those but again doubtful. I think there is a fuse chart on the side of that cover you need to remove. Did you look at the bulbs you replaced and matched them up to the new ones? You have an ohm meter you can check the bulbs with? Voltage meter you can check power and ground at the bulb sockets? At least you know where the problem is now.......

Trying to think, it might actually be the lamp switch that does the failure monitioring, would need a 210 wiring diagram to know for sure.

yep, i think the fact that both lights are not working tells me the problem is more proximal than distal. but like you mention this is no easy task to pinpoint where the problem is exactly..
i'll check the fuse box below the steering wheel. i checked the fusebox next to the batteyr last night but couldnt find one for the sidemarker lights there. |

Not below the steering wheel; on the side of the dash assembly (left side). I think you know where it is though but wanted to make sure. You'll see a small slot on the edge, you can pry it off there. Hopefully I am right and there is a fuse list under the lid.
