What a disapointment on the low range feature. That GL sounds better and better.
But it is a bit too pricey for me.

Yeah I think I want a GL320 CDI but I think I will have to wait for a good used one. Locking differentials are a great tool. Old 6.2 Liter diesel chevy truck I cut some of my diesel teeth on had it. Even with rear wheel drive you almost always could get it to go where you wanted as long as you didn't sink in. On a 4 wheel drive you can have some fun mudding. Though it seems like a crime to take a 60K+ vehicle mudding unless it is a hummer.

Both retired cars are for sale as is my w124 shop inventory

Bumping thread up

The wiring was ready to go including a new rear SAM control module to handle the trailer lighting and accept trailer brake controls.
It doesn't get much better than that.
Where is "down the road motors" going to connect the trailer lights with a aftermarket hitch? All I can say is watch out for warning lamps when
you plug in the trailer.

There is no OE hitch for the 251 R Class in the USA. Only 463 G, 164 ML and 164x GL have the option.

I'm taking delivery of a GL450 in the next day or 2, and would like to be able to hook an electric brake controller up. This is a very recent build vehicle with the factory installed Trailer Hitch. The Dealer does not seem very receptive to my inquiries about having them install the controller. Any recommendations on a specific controller for these vehicles, and a good place to have the work done in the Washington DC / Baltimore area?

TIA,
David
