Gas leak
I ran a search but came up with nothing. Over the past few days I've noticed that when I'm finished driving my car, I get out and smell gas. I've narrowed the smell down to being the strongest in the following areas: Both passenger and driver side wheel wells and beneath the rear bumper. I've opened the hood and cannot smell it in there. Has anyone delt with this problem before? Is there a part that is notorious for going bad? Vehicle is a 1995 c280. No CEL either.
Thanks in advance. |

The fuel filter will sometimes drip a little fuel with the original "crimp on" fuel hose clamps. Sometimes all you need to do to fix it is some ragular ol worm-gear clamps. Check out the panel under the fuel filter to see if it looks like it's been getting damp with fuel. Go from there.
No check engine light right? Could also be related to a leak in the evaporative emission stuff. Gilly

i had the same problem on my 95 E420 last week, it was fuel hose between the filter and the line going to engine. ($30 from dealer) easy fix.
