After a little thought and after reading some posts here, I have isolated my 1987 190E 2.6 heater/AC fan problem. Now how do I fix it? If I put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2, the fan for the heater/AC works. When I turn the key a bit further to start the car, it starts OK, but the fan for the heater or AC stops. Even before starting the car, if I wiggle the key while in position 2, the fan will turn off.
My wife always had a massive keychain dangling from the key, so I'm led to believe that weight messed up the ignition. So, here's the question. What needs to be replaced and how do I get the ignition out? Thanks in advance for your help! |
