W140- Driving me crazy

Alright, so i know this is insignificant but it's the little things that drive you crazy. I recently replaced both front window motors on my 1993 300SE. After finishing the job and putting both door panels back on, the windows work great but I've noticed that my power seat adjusters no longer light up when the lights are turned on.(again, it's a little thing but it drives me crazy when this stuff happens) I pulled the bulb on the drivers side to see if it was bad and it broke when i tried to remove the glass part from its plastic holder. So.........1. does anyone know where you can purchase a replacement bulb, and 2. does anyone know if the two units are on the same circuit, maybe a relay has gone bad.... I'm sure i can live with this problem, i just really don't want to.

Yea..... This was basically the response i was expecting. Guess I'll just have to deal with this little annoyance. Damn...... On another note, Does anyone have an opinion on purchasing a used window motor? I bought new oned for the front doors($$$$$) I'm considering buying a used one for the rear passenger side door for $70 on ebay.

My indy mechanic's take is that he never goes with a used part for anything electrical.

For any part ALWAYS check with Phil at Fastlane,,,, sponsor at the top of the site,,, if he doesn't have it, which is rare, the dealer will.

bulb is one-piece

Far as I know, the bulb and the holder are sold as a one-piece item - that's why it broke when you tried to remove it.

I'm on a first-name-basis with a local dealer parts guru - that's where I go for little items like this.

I recently purchased 2 window lift motors from e-bay for my '92 300SE. Both were supposedly from the same car. (Both of mine were ka-put) Got the motors VERY cheaply ($10 for passenger rear and $20 for the drivers) - both shipped to my door for about $45. At those prices, I was willing to take the risk, as a rebuilt unit from Autozone or the like runs about $85. The driver's side worked flawlessly - the passenger motor had the same issues as my old one, so I went with a rebuilt unit from Autozone.

Personally, for what the dealer (or FastLane for that matter which is $225.40 - probably about 1/2 of the dealer price) wants for new unit, I'd try your luck with a rebuilt unit from one of the major auto-parts chains.

BTW - I sent a notice to the seller on e-bay about the non-functional (basically) right rear motor and told them I fully understood that I was buying a used part (for which I paid very little $), but that it did not work as they had said it did and as such, while I wouldn't post negative feedback, I was going to give neutral feedback. Surprise of all suprises, they had an issue with the neutral feedback!!! e-bay is a GREAT source for parts, but caveat emptor! In the past 3 months I've spent close to $1K finding various parts for my much-neglected-by-PO 300SE, and so far, only about $100 has been wasted $ - but I'm VERY careful in my purchasing patterns.

You're saying that Autozone offers the window motors for around $85. I'm sure glad I spent $208 on each of the front two. As much trouble as i have getting anything for my W140 from Autozone, I guess i never even considered asking.

I just checked AutoZone.com and they offer a Cardone remanufactured lift motor for the front doors for $89.99. Carries a "limited lifetime warranty" - the limit probably means whatever happens to go wrong with the one you buy from them is what is not covered under the warranty - but at $90 plus tax, they're almost disposable.
