What kind of differential I have in 2000 E320 wagon?
What kind of differential I have in 2000 E320 wagon? Opened or LSD?
I'm consider to change gear oil there, and thinking about use Redline Synthetic 75W90 as OEM substitute. I know that Mercedes uses 85W-90 Part#000 989 28 03 (MB 235.0) for differential without ASD/LSD and 85W-90 MB 235.7 Part#001 989 17 03 for diff with ADS/LSD. What about Synthetic gear oils like Lucas 75W90, Mobil1 75W90, Redline 75W90? |

No need for limited slip differential because you have electronic traction control.
Limited slip differentials are ancient history.

Why would you use a product that does not meet Benz's specs on viscosity? |

I used Redline Gear oil 75W90 at differential in W201 190E2.6. I didn't have any problems there. I'm not sure about W210. If it has also opened differential then I think it would not problem as well. Probably I'll buy OEM gear oil.
Another question. Is OEM Gear oil available in MB dealerships only? Does anyone know any internet vendors where can I buy it? |
