turn signal, emergency flasher solution
The turn signals and emergency flasher on the 190E quit working. They would sometimes operate again if the emergency flasher button would be flicked on and off rapidly. I did search and saw recomendation that flasher button be replaced because circuit for turn signals runs through the flasher switch.
Did so but signals remained problematic... continued to operate intermitently. I pulled flasher relay unit located in the rear of the fuse box (black about size of pack of cigarettes), and removed the cover of the relay. The center set of relay points located on the enclosed circuit board is the flasher relay. At the base of the circuit board directly under the center set of relay points I found a circular crack in the solder where the relay is soldered/connected to one of the large pins that plug into the fuse box. The crack created a situation that sometimes allowed contact and not at other times. I resoldered the cracked joint and the unit is as good as new. Turn signals and flashers now operate dependably. ![]()
