I have a 2000 CLK320 convertible top that is malfunctioning. I recently put the top down and it completed the operation normally and I was able to open the trunk to put a small package in it. When I attempted to raise the top, it performed all the actions to complete, except that it did not lock the rear part of the top tightly to the deck and the front locking handle is now very difficult to actually lock in place at the top of the windshield.
The console "top button" flashes that the operation is complete, but it is not. I cannot reverse the operation to lower the top and the the trunk lid will no longer open, either with the remote key or by the manual console button. I assume that there is some form of interlock from the top that is preventing the trunk from opening. Of course, my owner's manual is in the trunk.
Once I start driving down the street, the top button flashes continually and I get an audible ring 13 times (don't know if that is significant).
I have seen from other posts that sometimes disconnecting the battery creates a reset of such functions...should I do that? Someone said that you need a "radio code" to reset the radio once the battery has been disconnected (maybe that was just for some other model).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
