Looking for some help. No experience with MB. Can anyone offer any assistance or info.? Vehicle was purchased in April of 95. Talking to parts houses, they indicated there are two water pumps for this model. Early model and late model. I'm assuming that this vehicle would be an early model. Any other info. or warnings would be appreciated.

With the engine number any parts house can get you the correct water pump. If you don't have it ask your dealer for a copy of the VMI (vehicle master inquiry) for your car - it will show the engine number and lots of other useful information.

You can check your engine number which should be stamped on a metallic plate fixed in front of your radiator and above the electric fans. The number should start with the prefix 104...

1995 was a transition year for W140s between the early and late model (pre and post facelift). The chassis is mostly a post facelift for 1995, but some mechanical parts would be considered from the early stage, others for the late one.

Your best bet is to provide the engine number.
