1998 S500 Front Brake Rotor Replacement
Hi,
Is it hard to replace the front brake rotors on a 1998 S500 W140 and can I do it home?I can do brake pads,but have never done rotors.Does anybody have directions and the tools required on how to do this. -Thanks, Nilesh

Pull the calipers off, then all you need to do is unscrew one allen bolt and the discs will come right off. Watch your feet, they're heavy
![]() Make sure you clean the surface of the new discs before they go on. I also put a tiny dab of copperslip on the hubs, only a tiny amount. |

Parrott, if you're using new rotors bought from a MB dealer there is no need to remove the gray coating before installing them. It's a preservative to prevent rusting.

Thats good to know because I didn't remove it on mine either
![]() Some discs are coated in a light film of grease though, so its worth mentioning. |
