My mothers 92 350 sd was smoking for sometime until it decided to puke oil out the exhaust. I figured the turbo charger bearings where bad, so I pulled it, sent it off, and reinstalled the rebuilt unit. Same problem going on.
I was given some good advice by a guy in the deisel forum, but perhaps some others here have experienced this too. I just want to get a consensus before breaking this engine apart.........ps...was I supposed to prime the turbo charger before installation? Thanks for all advice in advance.. skip in VA |

You are supposed to pour oil into the "oil inlet" port on the turbo (after you have connected the bottom return line) prior to starting.

I have seen one other 603 do this at our shop. It had a broken piston. Sorry for the bad news, but the head will have to come off at least.
Good luck. Remember us when ordering parts/
