380 to 500 Swap
![]() ![]() In the last month I've picked up two SEC's. A currently running 380SEC and a wrecked (bent frame) 500SEC for parts. The original plan was to swap interiors because mine is ruined from sun-rot, but now I've got this 128K 500 motor thats not going to be used... sooooo the idea now is to pull the running 380 motor from the black SEC and swap the 500 in its place. The 380 wont go to waste as my 380SEL still needs an engine so with just a little bit of extra work from me I can upgrade one car and put the other back on the road. Has anyone done this before? any problems you came across would be appreciated.

Yeah, everything swaps with the same vintage. You need the 500sel/c intake manifold as it's different than the 560 one. So with a 500 intake you could swap in a 560...
![]() Aside from that, it just drops into place. It is tighter. ![]() Also, I think I'm going to figure out how to stuff a 500 Euro into a 123...
