124 Engine swap compatibility

Is it difficult or even possible to swap a 1993 2.6 engine and trans into a 1989 300E (currently with a 3.0)? I should have access to the entire 1993 car (wrecked) so any ancillary parts will be available to transplant. Any info is appreciated.
Chuck.

A 1993 2.6 engine in a w124 ??????
In my book, it never existed.
In 1993, the 2.8l 104 engine replaced the 2.6, 103 engine.

I think you meant M103 engine swap...The 2.6 engine from a 190E will bolt into the 1989 W124 chassis. You will then have a 300E 2.6.

Yep, my mistake. I didn't check the facts good enough before inquiring. It is a 1993 190 with a 2.6 and I need to replace an engine in a 1989 300E. What do I need to know about this swap? Will the 1989 tranny work? Wiring? Other? Thanks for the help.
Chuck.
