Probably a silly question but here goes,,,

What is this thing at the top of the driver's-side strut on my 1993 300CE? Looks adjustable whatever it is. My 1989 260E doesn't have one.

Also,, Previous owner (who had it since new) says it came with the car,, not added later.

that is definately factory, mercedes calls it a vibration dampner
