Question Headlamp question

Just purchased a pair of headlamps on ebay for my '92 300SE.

The pictures in the auction (see above) make it appear that the headlamps are identical, save for the gasket missing on the left (passenger) one.

Received the lamps, and they're not the same at all. Closer inspection of the pictures show that the adjuster screws are in different locations.

Turn the lamps over, and the passenger side (the one I really needed) is the same as in my car -
1 large door to gain access to the internals.
Yellow fog light
Single bi-filament bulb for main lamps.

The drivers side is completely different
2 doors for access to internals
2 bulbs for main lamps, one central like the right lamp, and one lower in the reflector - both bulbs single filament.
Clear fog light.

Close inspection of the lens reveals that the driver's side is completely different than the passenger.

What I think is that the drivers lamp is a european spec lamp. I've not tried to install it to see what the beam pattern is like. The wiring socket connections are identical on both lamps.

Can anyone assist me in figuring out what the source of the drivers lamp is? I need to figure out whether I've got cause to gripe at the seller - good deal or not, if I can't use the driver's side lamp, then he needs to take it back (which I suspect will be an uphill battle).

The auction was offered as 1995 Mercedes Benz S500 Headlight.

Sounds like the Drivers side is an H3/H4 set up and is an E Code unit (not USA Spec which mandates a single bulb for both in one capsule or separate headlamps).
