For search archives, let it be known: 107 body 117 Motor, Idle jumping up and down and car stalling at idle or throttle closed. The Tachometer showed wrong RPM and the fuel pump relay was clicking like mad. Replaced Fuel Pump Relay, idle speed control and Air Slide Valve but still had symptoms. Checked all ground wires. Borrowed a neighbor’s Ignition Control unit and it runs fine. I ordered today through Fast Lane.
Mystery solved. I saw lots of posts but few-said ICU. I don’t know how the Tach is connected to the ICU, but it must be. Now I am on to the next projects. Steve ’85 500SL (Euro) |

Manual air slide valve
Hey Steve,
John Schrampfer here. Would you do me a favor? If you are through with that valve, would you post on the MBShop site about its availability? Someone emailed me the day after I shipped it to you asking if I still had it. I didn't save the message. Maybe it will help someone else out in their diagnosis as well. Glad to know you found the culprit. Now get that car running right and enjoy driving it for a change. John |

I posted it.
Thank you again John. I installed it and got the idle down but symptoms presented themselves immediately. I switched it back, borrowed an ICU and the rest is in the posts. I have it and will ship to whoever you wish, or I will ship it right back to you. (I'll be out of town for a couple of days but can ship soon, if I know to do so.)
