Shift surround help--W124
The following DIY article explains how to remove and replace the shifter in a W124.
http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124ShiftKnob I am trying to clean and/or replace the clear palstic that covers the shift pattern P-R-N-D-3-2. I looked at step #3 in the IY article, but I can't figure out where to apply pressure to unclip the black cover. Has anyone done this before and have suggestions? I don;t want to break any plastic parts. Thanks in advance.

I'll try your suggestion and work with a small flat screwdriver. So the "tabs" are on the right and left side, not the front and back. Right?
